I. IRENA UNGARO

Born in Klaipėda district, Pleškučiai village, lives in Klaipėda. Irena Ungaro is one of the few delmonas embroiderers who took over the tradition: she learned to sew and embroider from her grandmother, a talented seamstress of the region. Irena Ungaro has been doing handicrafts from an early age, has acquired the speciality of clothing designer and still creates details of clothes, home textiles, and national costume. She became more active in delmonas embroidery and sewing in recent years. In 2018, 2019 and 2020, led workshops on delmonas sewing and making of other traditional handicrafts organised by Klaipėda Centre of Ethnic Culture under the Crafts of Lithuania Minor project.
