IV. BRONĖ SURDOKIENĖ

Born in Alytus district, Lačionys village, in a family of village singers and weavers. Admired traditional handicrafts ever since her childhood, created them with great enthusiasm, participated in exhibitions. Mastered weaving in the family, and learned to embroider from the village elders and books. Worked at Alytus School of Textile Artists, where she taught embroidery and tapestry weaving, and led the school's handicraft group. To date, she conducts handicraft workshops for adult groups. Bronė Surdokienė is constantly interested in embroidery traditions, methods, composition, and national clothes of Lithuanian regions. She belongs to the Lithuanian Folk Artists' Union and Vilnius Region Folk Artists'-Art Creators' Association, has the status of an artist, is a traditional artisan of certified national heritage products, and a fosterer of the old weaving and embroidery craft.

Bronė Surdokienė has been actively embroidering delmonas of Lithuania Minor for twelve years. One can admire her works and get acquainted with the talented master of handicrafts at fairs, folklore festivals, exhibitions, and in folk art showrooms.
