VI. VALERIJA JUREVIČIENĖ
Valerija Jurevičienė lives and creates in Gargždai, Klaipėda district. The propensity for art became apparent back in her childhood and only increased with age. The woman creates paper cuttings, floristic, graphic works, collages, and paints, but pays most attention to textiles: uses embossed embroidery technique to create tapestries, pictures, embroiders delmonas. V. Jurevičienė is a member of Žemaitija branch of the Lithuanian Folk Artists' Union, she has been granted the status of an artist; in 2018, was given the Vytautas Majoras Folk Artist Award for mastery, intensive and creative activity in the field of folk art and for promoting the name of Klaipėda district. The artist actively participates in exhibitions and competitions. She became a laureate twice in the national Lithuanian Souvenir competition: in 2007 for the embroidered picture Family, and for embroidered delmonas in 2008.
Valerija Jurevičienė has been creating delmonas for fourteen years. In 2006, the woman participated in the Interreg IIIA project of Klaipėda Culture Communication Centre, Traditional Arts and Crafts Promoting Entrepreneurship and Tourism on the Curonian Coast of the Baltic Sea, and collaborated in the development of activities presenting delmonas. Thoroughly embroidered textile bags can be seen by admirers at exhibitions in which the artist actively participates.
