VIII. DAIVA REKAŠIUTĖ
Daiva Rekašiutė was born in Viešvėnai, Telšiai district. She graduated from Telšiai Technical School of Applied Arts, where she acquired the speciality of artistic metal processing. Lives and works in Klaipėda, is an active member of Žemaitija branch of the Folk Artists' Union, a textile artist. She started embroidering twenty years ago, and initially created cross-stitch pictures, later started embroidering handbags, bags, clothes, tablecloths, table runners, and napkins. Three years ago, Daiva Rekašiutė fell in love with the detail of the national costume, delmonas, and started embroidering them. Delmonas and other handicrafts created by the textile artist can be seen at exhibitions, folk artists' fairs and fairs held during folklore festivals, as well as in folk art showrooms.
