Children's and youth folklore ensemble "Kuršiukai", Leaders: Gabija Kochanskaitė and Alvydas Vozgirdas

"Kuršiukai" was formed in 1992. Children and youth of various ages come together to explore the secrets of traditional music-making, singing, dancing, and games. The children play traditional musical instruments, and the ensemble's repertoire includes instrumental music, minor folklore, songs, dances, and circle dances from the Klaipėda region and other ethnographic regions of Lithuania.

The ensemble actively participates in city and regional festivals in Klaipėda, as well as in national events, Lithuanian Song Festivals, and international folklore festivals both in Lithuania and abroad. In the past five years, "Kuršiukai" have participated in folklore festivals in Poland, Finland, Russia, Germany, and Croatia.

"Kuršiukai" is always open to welcoming new children and school-aged youth who are interested in joining.

Awards

In 2001, the ensemble was recognized as the best children's folklore ensemble in Lithuania and was awarded the „Aukso paukšte".
