Lauksnos International Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival

International Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival “Lauksnos”

Lauksnos is a Prussian word meaning “stars” or “lights.”

The International Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival Lauksnos brings together bearers and practitioners of traditional culture from across the globe, inviting audiences to discover unique elements of intangible cultural heritage, such as music, dance, folklore, and masterpieces of folk art.

The festival presents, in diverse forms, elements inscribed on the UNESCO Lists of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, as well as those included in the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Lithuania. Since 2017, this biennial festival has attracted more than 15,000 spectators to its wide range of events—concerts, theatre performances, workshops, exhibitions, discussions, and craft demonstrations—offering them the opportunity to experience traditional cultures from around the world up close.

The fifth edition of the festival will take place on 9–12 July 2026 in Klaipėda, Lithuania.

Since 2019, the festival has been held under the patronage of UNESCO.
