The 5th International Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival “Lauksnos” will take place on July 9–12, 2026, in Klaipėda.
“Lauksnos” is a Prussian word meaning “stars” or “lights”.
The International Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival “Lauksnos” brings together bearers of traditional culture from around the world and invites audiences to discover unique elements of intangible cultural heritage: music, dance, folklore, and masterpieces of folk art.
The festival presents, in various forms, elements included in the lists governed by the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, as well as those listed in the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Since 2017, this biennial festival has attracted more than 15,000 visitors, offering concerts, theatre performances, workshops, exhibitions, discussions, and presentations of traditional crafts. Visitors have the opportunity to experience traditional cultures from different countries up close.
Since 2019, the festival has been held under UNESCO patronage.
